When a document is made there might be some inaccuracy in it. This inaccuracy can be corrected by a reader and re corrected by every new reader. Information may be found on a certain document by a reader, but there are chances that some other reader may get more or different information about the same. This all leads to waste of time and incomplete information. The solution to this problem is the installation of the annotation system in the web.

By annotation changes can be made number of times in the document. The annotation system is tool which gave electronic documents on which the work of making notes can be done. Annotations are of various types some of them help to highlight some part of a given passage, to write about the errors, corrections and comments in the margins. Another type of annotation helps the reader to share their comments with others.

Annotation systems

The Stanford integrated digital library project developed the comMentor web annotation system. In this system when the viewer views any annotated document, the text that is annotated is highlighted and the icon or the picture of the author is displayed after that. The annotator system is developed by the annotation technology. While using an annotator system the users has to log into the database of annotation. When the user comes to the document that is annotated the annotation becomes visible. The document with annotation differs from the original document as it has certain specific color and font.
